Key facts
Fees shown are from our published price guide. Your written treatment plan confirms costs before anything begins.
When a crown is the right answer
Once a tooth has lost enough structure — a large old filling, a fracture, or a root canal — a filling can no longer hold it together reliably. A crown wraps the remaining tooth and holds it under load, which is what prevents the catastrophic split that ends in extraction.
Root-treated back teeth in particular are much more likely to survive long term when crowned.
Ceramic or bonded?
All-ceramic crowns transmit light in a way that resembles natural enamel, making them the better choice for front teeth. Bonded crowns, with a metal substructure, are strong and cost less, and are often perfectly appropriate further back.
We will show you both options for your specific tooth and explain which we would choose and why.
Common questions
Ceramic Crowns: your questions answered
How much is a crown in Wolverhampton?
£450 for a bonded crown or £620 for an all-ceramic crown at Wolverhampton Dental. If the tooth needs a post and core to support the crown, that is a further £220. Plan members receive 10% off.
How long does a crown last?
Typically ten to fifteen years or more with good hygiene. Crowns do not decay themselves, but the natural tooth underneath can, which is why regular examinations matter.
Does having a crown hurt?
Preparation is done under local anaesthetic. Some sensitivity while the temporary crown is in place is normal and settles once the permanent crown is fitted.
