Start with the plan, not the procedure

Patients often arrive asking for veneers when whitening and a little bonding would achieve what they want, at a fraction of the cost and without removing tooth structure. Others ask for whitening when the underlying issue is alignment.

So we start with what you actually dislike about your smile, photograph it, and set out the realistic options in order of how conservative they are. The least invasive treatment that achieves your goal is almost always the right one.

The usual sequence

Where several treatments are involved, order matters. Health first: any decay, gum disease or failing restorations are dealt with before cosmetic work begins. Then alignment, then whitening, then bonding, veneers or crowns to refine shape and colour — because whitening cannot lighten porcelain or composite, shade is matched last.

Common questions

Cosmetic Dentistry: your questions answered

Is the cosmetic consultation really free?

Yes. Cosmetic dental consultations, including for Invisalign, Six Month Smiles and dental implant assessment discussions, are free of charge. Formal implant consultation and assessment is £100.

How much does a cosmetic smile improvement cost?

It depends entirely on the treatment. Home whitening is £360, bonding starts at £300 per tooth, and veneers are £450 to £620 per unit. A full makeover combining several treatments is quoted individually after your consultation.

Will cosmetic treatment damage my teeth?

Whitening and bonding are additive or non-destructive. Veneers and crowns require some tooth preparation, which is permanent. This is exactly why we discuss the conservative options first.
