In short

Special occasion dentistry is cosmetic treatment timed around a wedding, graduation or milestone event. The key is lead time: whitening needs a few weeks, bonding and veneers a little longer, and straightening several months. Book your free consultation as early as you can.

Plan backwards from the date

The single most common regret is leaving it late. Whitening works gradually and the shade settles for a week or two afterwards, so finishing well before the event gives a truer, more even result. Bonding and veneers need laboratory or appointment time. Straightening needs months.

Tell us the date at your consultation and we will work back from it, and tell you honestly if something is not achievable in the time available.

Photographs are unforgiving

Flash photography exaggerates shade differences, chips and uneven edges. A hygiene appointment to remove staining, combined with whitening and small edge repairs in composite, transforms how teeth photograph — often for a modest cost, with no drilling.

Common questions

Special Occasions: your questions answered

How far in advance should I book before my wedding?

For whitening alone, three to four weeks minimum. For bonding or veneers, allow one to two months. If you want your teeth straightened first, start at least eight to twelve months before the date.

What is the fastest way to improve my smile before an event?

A hygiene appointment (£52) to lift surface staining, followed by whitening from £360, gives the biggest visible change for the least time and cost.
