How Enlighten differs from over-the-counter kits

Trays are made to fit your teeth precisely from an impression or scan, so the gel stays on the enamel instead of leaking onto the gums. The gel itself is a professional concentration only available through a dentist, and the process finishes with a surgery appointment.

Shop-bought strips and kits use far weaker gel in a generic tray, which is why results are patchy and short-lived by comparison.

Before you whiten

Whitening only works on natural tooth structure. Crowns, veneers, composite bonding and fillings do not change colour, so if you have visible restorations at the front we plan to replace or re-shade them after whitening is complete.

Teeth must also be healthy first — active decay or gum disease is treated before whitening, and a hygiene visit beforehand gives a cleaner starting shade.

Sensitivity

Temporary sensitivity during whitening is common and normal. It typically resolves within a day or two of finishing. Desensitising toothpaste before and during treatment helps, and the regime can be paced more slowly if sensitivity is troublesome.

Common questions

Enlighten Whitening: your questions answered

How much is Enlighten whitening in Wolverhampton?

Enlighten Evo 4 whitening is £560 at Wolverhampton Dental. Standard home day or night whitening is £360. Plan members receive 10% off whitening treatments.

How long do the results last?

Several years for most people, provided you avoid heavy staining from tobacco, red wine, coffee and tea. Keeping your trays lets you top up occasionally rather than repeating the whole course.

Does whitening damage enamel?

Professionally supervised whitening at these concentrations does not damage enamel. The main side effect is temporary sensitivity.

Will it whiten my crowns and fillings?

No. Porcelain and composite do not lighten. If you have visible restorations, plan to have them replaced after whitening so the new shade can be matched.
