How Invisalign works
Invisalign uses a sequence of custom-made clear plastic aligners. Each aligner is worn for one to two weeks and applies gentle, controlled pressure that moves specific teeth a fraction of a millimetre at a time. Swap to the next aligner in the series and the process repeats until your teeth reach the planned position.
Because the aligners are removable, you take them out to eat, brush and floss. That makes cleaning far easier than with fixed braces, and it means no food restrictions during treatment.
Seeing your result before you commit
We use an iTero digital scanner rather than putty impressions. The scan takes a few minutes and produces a 3D model of your mouth, from which we generate a simulation showing the projected movement of each tooth and the likely end result.
You see that simulation before agreeing to anything. If the projected outcome is not what you hoped for, we will tell you honestly and talk through alternatives such as Six Month Smiles, fixed braces, or bonding and veneers.
Retention afterwards
Teeth naturally drift back towards their old position, so retention is part of the treatment, not an optional extra. Most patients use Vivera retainers (£330 single arch, £460 dual arch for a set of three) or clear Essix retainers at £100.
Wearing retainers as instructed is the single biggest factor in keeping your result long-term.

How much does Invisalign cost in Wolverhampton?

How long does Invisalign take?
Most cases take between 6 and 18 months. Simple front-tooth crowding can finish faster; cases involving bite correction or significant movement take longer. You will be given an estimated number of aligners and a projected timescale before you start.
Is Invisalign painful?
It is not usually painful, but expect pressure and tenderness for a day or two each time you move to a new aligner. Most patients find over-the-counter pain relief more than sufficient, and the sensation settles quickly.
How many hours a day do I need to wear the aligners?
Around 22 hours a day. They come out for meals, drinks other than water, and cleaning your teeth. Treatment slows down or stalls if aligners are worn for significantly less than that.
